Few clients would choose to become involved in litigation.  For most it is a last resort, to be concluded as quickly and as efficiently as possible.  Our aim first and foremost is to find out at the outset what our client's objectives are and then set about achieving them with maximum speed and minimum fuss.  That means analysing problems and applying a practical and imaginative approach to solving them.

More often than not, court proceedings will not even be required.  But when litigation cannot be avoided, we fight hard for our clients, maintaining throughout a clear strategy with agreed targets, timetables and budgets.

We are regularly in the High Court, and for our commercial clients who do business internationally, we are frequently before the major arbitral institutions including the London Court of International Arbitration and the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

We also use mediation, often and effectively.

Whatever we do, we will constantly strive to achieve results beyond our clients' expectations. In whatever form, litigation is no more than a means to an end, and we never lose sight of our clients' requirements and the importance of commercial solutions.  In urgent cases, for example where property or assets are at risk and an immediate injunction is necessary, we are ready to go to Court within a matter of hours.  We act as advocates ourselves, or retain specialist counsel as appropriate.

We also understand the importance of providing value for money.  Our charging rates are competitive and we believe in giving clients the best possible information about litigation costs.  We are happy to work within agreed budgets or to agree fixed fees in appropriate cases.  We will usually aim to invoice for our work on a monthly basis so that clients are kept regularly and properly informed of our costs at all times, with accurate estimates of costs at each stage.  We are actively involved in the use of the after-the-event insurance cover in all types of commercial litigation and frequently we are called on to advise on alternative forms of funding for commercial disputes.
